The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, carrying 242 passengers and crew, went down just after departing from the western city of Ahmedabad en route to London.

All but one of those on board an Air India flight bound for London Gatwick Airport that crashed shortly after take-off in western India on Thursday have died, the airline has confirmed.

The crisis has cast a shadow on Air India, which has for years struggled to rebuild its reputation and revamp its fleet after the Tata Group took over the airline from the Indian government in 2022.
