The Social Security Administration said Wednesday that all claims can continue to be conducted on the phone — a reversal from its effort to move identity-verification for some services to online or in-person — but the agency will begin an anti-fraud check on April 14.

The fraud detection change comes alongside a sweep of revisions made to the SSA after Elon Musk’s DOGE began working with the department.
