While Week 10 of the 2025 season was light in major upsets, the race for the College Football Playoff looks a little different after what transpired Saturday.
The Louisville football program came in at No. 14 in the most recent Associated Press Top 25 Poll and No. 15 in the most recent USA TODAY Coaches Poll. The CFP selection committee side sides with the Coaches Poll, placing them at the No. 15 spot in their first rankings of 2025.
As we get deeper into the second half of the season, each result is becoming more meaningful toward the College Football Playoff picture. If you’re not in the top 25 by this point in the season, you’re probably realistically out of the playoff picture.

AP Top 25 poll preview: Top 10 is set to get shuffled after Georgia Tech, Vandy and Miami go down
Three top-10 teams in The Associated Press college football poll lost. No. 9 Vanderbilt fell short in a 34-31 loss to No. 20 Texas, while No. 10 Miami lost 26-20 in overtime at SMU.
If the postseason started today, the Rebels would host a first-round playoff game in Oxford with that No. 6 ranking. In the bracket's first edition, Ole Miss would host No. 11 Virginia.
Clemson began the season at No. 4 in the AP poll, and Florida State rose all the way to No. 7 amid a 3-0 start. At one point or another, both were expected to be among the top teams in the ACC and potentially even national championship contenders.
Six of the 20 active teams lost, with three such defeats coming to unranked teams. Both top 10 ACC teams were among that group.
