Bermuda is yet again under a hurricane threat this season as Hurricane Melissa is forecast to charge north, bringing dangerous winds and storm surge.

Melissa’s 10-day run as a tropical cyclone – culminating in a catastrophic Category 5 strike on western Jamaica Tuesday – will end Friday as it transitions into a powerful non-tropical storm, clipping Atlantic Canada’s southern Avalon Peninsula tonight before heading swiftly out to sea.

The Bermuda Triangle, a notorious stretch of ocean between Florida, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico, has been a source of intrigue and speculation for decades. Over 50 ships and 20 planes have vanished since the 1940s,

BermudAir first launched in 2023, and now operates a fleet of Embraer E175 and E190 aircraft. Beyond the New York-area markets, the airline flies to several cities across the United States, including Boston, Orlando, Raleigh/Durham, and Baltimore, along with several destinations in Canada.

As Hurricane Melissa accelerates northeastward over the western Atlantic, it will pass just west of Bermuda and could pass over the southeastern part of Newfoundland with torrential rain, high winds and heavy seas.
