China’s top maker of electric vehicles (EV) wants to pay a lot less for car parts in the new year, a demand that signals there is no end in sight to a vicious price war nor economic gloom marked by lower wages and uncertain prospects.

Tesla Inc. ( TSLA, Financial) announced a 4.3% year-over -year decline in November China-made EV sales to 78,856 units, as reported by CPCA. However, its Model 3 and Model Y vehicle sales increased by 15.5% compared to the previous month.

Asian equities were mixed overnight as South Korea underperformed in an unexpected political development, Taiwan and Indonesia outperformed, and the US dollar was weaker overnight while Thailand was closed for the King’s birthday.

Electric car makers including Tesla Inc. and BYD Co. have unleashed further discounts and incentives in China in a final push to meet annual sales targets.
