A transgender teenager from Jurupa Valley competed in Saturday's CIF track-and-field finals despite drawing national scrutiny and criticism from President Donald Trump over her participation earlier in the week.

Transgender athlete AB Hernandez, a 16-year-old junior at Jurupa Valley High School, won multiple metals at California's state track and field championships Saturday, after President Trump ordered officials to block her from competing.

The high school junior shared first place with her closest competitors because of a new policy put into place earlier this week in response to her success.
