I T IS THE start of the most important week of diplomacy for Donald Trump since he returned to office. A meeting between the American president and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, is planned for October 30th and comes after Mr Trump’s whistlestop tour of many of his country’s most important Asian allies.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping later this week and is also ready to sit down for trade talks with Donald Trump as soon as the U.S. President is prepared to do so,

President Trump met with the emir and prime minister of Qatar Saturday aboard Air Force One during a refueling stop.

On Wednesday, Trump is also expected to visit South Korea for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. While there, Trump will hold a bilateral meeting with the president of the Republic of Korea, deliver keynote remarks at the APEC CEO luncheon and participate in APEC working dinner.
