Authorities say the suspect, who met with the principal to discuss enrolling a student, targeted the school because of its affiliation with the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Elias Wolford, a 5-year-old boy injured in a school shooting in Northern California, may not regain the use of his legs due to damage to his spinal cord from a bullet, according to a family update on a fundraising campaign page.

One of the kindergartners shot last week at a Seventh-Day Adventist school in Northern California hasn't been able to move his legs, his grandmother wrote on Facebook.

Elias Wolford, 5, and his kindergarten classmate Roman Mendez, 6, were shot by a gunman during recess at Feather River Adventist School on Dec. 4.

Two students, boys aged 5 and 6, fell victim to a shootout at Feather River Adventist School, located in Butte County. The suspected gunman has since been found dead.

Mendez and Wolford were two of only 37 students in the faith-based K-8 school, associated with the Oroville Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
