It's officially hurricane season, and that means keeping a closer eye on the weather this time of year, especially if you live in Hawaii. Fox Weather on Monday reported that the National Hurricane Center upgraded Iona from a tropical storm after forming Sunday night south of Hawaii to a Category 1
In the Pacific, forecasters are watching five systems, including Hurricane Iona and Tropical Storm Keli. Iona has strengthened into a major hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 115 mph about 790 miles south-southeast of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Hurricane Iona and Tropical Storm Keli are moving west well south of the state. There is also third area the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is tracking for tropical cyclone development east of Keli. All three systems will not threaten Hawaii with severe weather, but stronger winds are likely as they pass to our south.
