One of the last major electronics companies still manufacturing Blu-ray players has hit stop (or at least pause for now) on its two remaining devices. LG will no longer manufacture the UBK80 and UBK90 UHD Blu-ray players, which it introduced back in 2018.

LG tells FlatpanelsHD it could produce more units if demand increases, although it hasn’t developed a new Blu-ray player since 2018.

In a disappointing turn of events, FlatpanelsHD reports that LG has ended production of its Blu-ray player series, which includes the UBK80 and UBK90 models. With limited stock available, prospective buyers should act quickly to secure the last remaining units before they are sold out.

Sony recently wound down blu-ray production, and now top competitor LG is following suit. No more disks, no more players. For major manufacturers, the format (if not optical media entirely) will soon be history.

Following in line with Samsung and Oppo, LG is halting any further production of its Blu-ray players with all current units in stock being the very last in rotation.
