Votes are set to be counted in India's capital Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is hoping to stage a comeback after 27 years. Most exit polls, following the vote on Wednesday, predicted an absolute majority for the BJP, giving them more than 35 seats in the 70-member legislative assembly.

PM Modi expressed gratitude to Delhi's voters for their overwhelming support to the BJP in the Assembly polls. "Development and good governance have won," PM Modi wrote on X.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his victory message promised all-round development of Delhi under the new BJP government. The BJP's vote share is leading, and key AAP leaders are trailing in important seats.
