Octopath Traveler 0 closed out this morning’s Nintendo Direct, and long-time fans immediately clocked that, despite the new name, the prequel RPG seemed to draw heavily from the 2022 mobile game Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent.

One of the final frames of the trailer shows what looks like a group battle, with the player monitoring the statuses of multiple characters all at once. While it’s just a guess based on the few details revealed during the stream, Octopath Traveler 0 looks like a major evolution from the previous games in the franchise.

Following the announcement of Octopath Traveler 0 during yesterday's Nintendo Partner Direct, some fans are seeing their excitement turning into irritation upon hearing the news that the Nintendo Switch 2 physical edition of the game is just a Game-Key Card,
