The Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign is reaching out to local Wisconsinites for help this holiday season. They need more bell ringers to help drive donations. Local 5’s Kaitlin Corbett was at Piggly Wiggly in Kaukauna where she spoke with volunteer bell ringers.

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WKBW) — 'Tis the season for Salvation Army bell ringers across the community. Salvation Army bell ringers are out in full force with Red Kettles at about 30 locations throughout the area, like one inside the lobby of the Tops on Main and Union in Williamsville. It's a fundraising event dating back to the late 1800s.

A South African gold coin valued at $2,800 was found donated in a red kettle at Scheels in West Des Moines, the Salvation Army said.

The Salvation Army of Des Moines is currently raising money for its Annual Red Kettle Campaign with a goal of raising $1.2 million dollars. On Thursday when counting donations, the Salvation Army found that someone had donated a solid gold South African Krugerrand coin worth an estimated $2800.
