NEW YORK — The Yankees and Red Sox’ first series of the season might start a little late due to rain. The weather was nice Friday at Yankee Stadium until around 5:30 p.m., when Red Sox batting practice was cut short due to rain falling from black clouds hovering in the sky.

The Red Sox and Yankees game Friday here at Yankee Stadium will not start on time. First pitch was scheduled for 7:05 p.m. But the tarp is on the field and the game will be delayed due to rain, the Yankees announced.

The tarp was placed on the field at Yankee Stadium prior to the scheduled start of their 7:05 p.m. Friday night game against Boston.
