A food-conditioned black bear was killed at Yellowstone National Park after a series of concerning incidents "posed a clear threat to visitor safety," officials said.

Yellowstone National Park staff reported Thursday that on Friday, July 11, an adult female black bear was lethally removed after a series of “concerning incidents” involving a backcountry campsite in the Backtail Deer Creek drainage.

An adult female black bear has been lethally removed from Yellowstone National Park after becoming conditioned to human food, marking the first bear euthanized in the park for this reason in 5 years.
