New dating techniques at a fossil site in New Mexico attempt to dispel the theory that dinosaurs were already in decline before the fateful asteroid hit.

All dinosaurs, except for birds (which are their modern descendants), became extinct about 66 million years ago when an asteroid slammed into the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico, extinguishing about 75% of all life on Earth.
