The world's second biggest body of ice - the Greenland Ice Sheet - is cracking open quicker than scientists had previously thought. That's according to new research by a team of scientists, led by Dr Tom Chudley, from Durham University's Geography Department.

New research has revealed that cracks in Greenland's ice sheet are expanding rapidly due to climate change. Scientists from Durham University analyzed 3-D surface maps and found that crevasses at the fast-flowing edges of the ice sheet grew significantly in size and depth from 2016 to 2021.
