Novak Djokovic was shocked by Botic van de Zandschulp 6-2 3-6 6-1 in the second round of Indian Wells on Saturday as the Serbian suffered an early exit at the hands of a tournament lucky loser for a second consecutive year.

Novak Djokovic started the 2025 season with some strong performances at the Australian Open – one of his all-time favourite tournaments – where he reached the semi-finals, but a left thigh injury prevented him from continuing his run at Melbourne Park.

Novak Djokovic, who was ousted in the third round last year, fell 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 to Botic Van De Zandschulp in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open on Saturday.
