Roughly 86 million Americans—more than a third of the country’s licensed drivers—are now eligible to fly within the U.S. using a digital ID stored on their phones.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will be accepting Virginia-issued mobile drivers’ licenses with digital ID readers nationwide at checkpoints. Travelers can download the Virginia Mobile App on their phone for a virtual identity screening process rather than at a physical photo ID and boarding pass location with a TSA security officer.
