Air India flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 carrying 242 people, crashed after taking off from Ahmedabad on its way to London.
Gatwick direct flight from Monday, now designated as AI 159, with the return flight AI 160. This follows the AI 171 crash, with the airline retiring the old number to provide emotional closure. The Boeing 787-8 will operate the route.
