Former Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith has told lawmakers in a closed-door interview his team “developed proof beyond a reasonable doubt” President Donald Trump criminally conspired to overturn his 2020 election loss.

Smith testified about his investigations into Trump at a closed-door hearing with members of the House Judiciary Committee.

Smith complied with the subpoena despite having volunteered more than a month earlier to testify publicly before the committee.
