Evacuation warnings and orders have been issued for Los Angeles communities near the Eaton, Palisades and Sunset fire burn zones ahead of the rain.

The strongest wave of a powerful winter storm reached Southern California overnight, bringing flash flood warnings, dropping snow levels and a possible tornado. The heaviest rain was dumped during the early morning hours with rates near 1 inch per hour at times prompting officials to issue a flash flood warning for the Airport Fire burn

Los Angeles police distributed address-specific evacuation orders Tuesday to residents in burn areas of the Palisades, Sunset and Hurst fires, which are expected to be “susceptible to heavy rain.” Heavy rain was expected to last through early Thursday morning,
