Despite expected rain Sunday night, Canadian wildfire smoke will continue to impact Michigan on Monday, officials say.

Michigan's air, which has been tainted for several days by wafting smoke from Canadian wildfires, is expected to improve over the weekend, state officials said. But don't breathe too deep a sigh of relief, experts warned: Conditions could decline again early next week.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) uses a color-coded scale to inform the public about air pollution levels and potential health risks. Michigan residents can check the AQI through various online resources, including the MiAir Quality Index Dashboard and AirNow.

Michigan's Air Quality Advisory has been extended through midnight as smoke continues to linger in Southeast Michigan.
