Rap superstar Nicki Minaj won’t face charges — at least for now — tied to an alleged assault that a former employee says took place after a 2024 Detroit concert. The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office announced in a news release Monday that it had denied a warrant request in the incident because there was insufficient evidence that a crime had taken place.

The allegations stem from an incident in April 2024, during a stop on Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 tour in Detroit. Garrett claims the rapper assaulted him in her dressing room after discovering he had assigned someone else to collect her prescriptions from a pharmacy.

Garrett’s lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles, seeks a jury trial and claims Minaj’s actions caused him significant emotional and physical harm. Garrett, 40, of Sun Valley, Calif., has also filed a civil lawsuit against Minaj, whose legal name is Onika Maraj-Petty, in L.A.
