A windstorm forecasters described as potentially destructive and life-threatening will develop across the Southland Tuesday morning, dramatically raising the risk of wildfires for the next several days.

Strong winds and fire weather warnings are in the forecast for parts of Los Angeles, including Malibu, the Santa Monica Mountains and more locations.

Just months after dozens of structures were destroyed by the devastating Mountain Fire in Ventura County, residents are once again on edge with another strong Santa Ana wind event bearing down on Southern California.

Wind speeds: The National Weather Service has issued wind warnings and alerts across much of Southern California. In L.A. and Ventura counties, sustained winds of 35 to 50 mph are expected, while gusts of 50 to 80 mph are possible. In some windy corridors, winds up to 100 mph are possible.
