The Guardians placed Carlos Santana on waivers, possibly signaling the end of his third stint with the club he broke in with.
The move to place Santana on waivers — which allows the 29 other big league clubs to claim him — comes as the Guardians have gone 1-9 over their last 10 games and have slipped to 12 1/2 games back of the first-place Tigers in the American League Central and six games back of a wild-card spot.
On the court, Alcaraz seemed unfazed by the added attention from his haircut. He needed just over two hours to see off the towering, big-serving Opelka in Arthur Ashe Stadium and kick off his pursuit of a sixth grand slam title and second at the US Open.
