UMass will kick off its MAC era — literally — on Aug. 14, when the women’s soccer team hosts St. John’s at Rudd Field as the first game UMass’ 2025-26 athletic calendar. The first game against a MAC school will take place on Sept. 14 when the Ball State women’s soccer team comes to Amherst.

A founding member of the Mid-American Conference is reportedly considering moving on from the league. According to a report from the Daily News-Record in Harrisonburg, Virginia, Ohio University is among the schools expressing some interest in joining the Sun Belt Conference.

Charles Huff and Braylon Braxton will be back on the Sun Belt Conference center stage this week. Huff and Braxton, who as Marshall's coach and quarterback led the Thundering Herd to the SBC football title in December before departing as part of a Marshall exodus for Southern Miss, will be at SBC media days.
