As the Houston Health Department investigated two possible measles cases Friday afternoon, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo urged unvaccinated attendees to consider the risks of attending any large event.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Sunnyside Health Center, located at 4410 Reed Road. HOUSTON — The Houston Health Department is hosting a measles vaccination clinic Saturday morning.

Experts recommend that anyone not vaccinated against the measles should avoid large events like the Houston Rodeo amid an outbreak in northwest Texas.

Local leaders announced at a public measles briefing Tuesday afternoon that there are no active measles cases in Houston or Harris County.

Since Tuesday is the first official day of the carnival and shows, HoustonRodeo officials are alerting goers to be vigilant about their health.

The Houston Health Department is investigating two possible cases of measles. They are not releasing any details about the ages, locations or how the patients may have been infected. These are separate from the two cases reported in January that involved international travel, the health department said those cases have now been closed.
