Elon Musk and President Donald Trump, publicly at least, are on good terms.

US President Donald Trump has said that his close advisor Elon Musk "can't do and won't do" anything without his government's approval, amid concerns over the tech billionaire's increasing influence on his administration.

Donald Trump bungled Elon Musk’s name once again on Monday. The president accidentally referred to the tech billionaire as “Leon.” Fox News aired the gaffe. It came as Trump signed an executive order to create a sovereign wealth fund and as he fielded a question on why Musk (who is leading the non-official Department of Government Efficiency’s drive to cut public spending) should have access to Treasury Department payment systems.

The billionaire and his Silicon Valley associates landed in the capital and immediately moved to cut the size of the federal government, reprising the playbook he used after buying Twitter in 2022.
