New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is expected to announce Thursday that she will not use her executive powers to remove Mayor Eric Adams from office at least for now, two sources briefed on the decision told CNN.

Instead, the governor plans to add a series of controls to the embattled mayor’s power over New York City, a person close to the governor said.

But the governor insists she'll have guardrails in place to keep watch on the indicted Big Apple chief executive.
