After a bitterly cold air mass gripped the region, a pattern change will bring a much-needed chance to thaw out.

Arctic air will chill much of the United States, but New York’s streak of consecutive freezing days ended on Monday.

We start things off this week with two advisories on the coast — a High Surf Advisory and a Coastal Flooding Advisory. Both take effect 4 a.m. Monday and last through 10 a.m. Tuesday.
