A new city of Las Vegas sign, complete with two showgirls and a roulette table, has been built at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Main Street in downtown Las Vegas on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018.
But the new sign features the words “Las Vegas” in color-changing, 12-foot-tall letters. The words are flanked by two glitzy, 26-foot-tall showgirls.
Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, former Mayor Oscar Goodman, a few showgirls and other dignitaries were on hand Tuesday for the dedication of the city’s new gateway sign on Las Vegas Boulevard.
The new sign features the iconic Las Vegas showgirl and marks the entry into downtown Las Vegas. The pair of 26 foot tall showgirls now light the way for visitors heading northbound into downtown.
