President Donald Trump announced that Mexico will be exempt from his newly imposed 25% tariffs on goods and services covered under the USMCA trade agreement, providing temporary relief for a key US trading partner.

The White House said that tariff exemptions for goods under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (Usmca) will remain valid until April 2. The reprieve came after 25 percent tariffs on Mexican and Canadian goods — with a carve-out for Canadian energy to be taxed at 10 percent — went into effect on Tuesday following a monthlong pause.

Just one day after postponing 25% tariffs on many imports from Mexico and some from Canada, Trump has threatened reciprocal tariffs on Canadian lumber and dairy.
