External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar addressed the Parliament today on the issue of deportation of Indian immigrants from the US. Jaishankar said that "It is the obligation of all countries to take back their nationals if they are found to be living illegally abroad."

Reacting to the deportation of illegal Indian immigrants from the US, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said that those who have returned have shared harrowing experiences.The deportation by the US are organised and executed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement ( ICE) authority,

Addressing the Rajya Sabha, the minister stated that the deportation from the US is not new and has been a process with India since 2009.

It is the obligation of all countries to take back their nationals if they are found to be living illegally abroad,” Jaishankar said in Rajya Sabha

Union Minister S. Jaishankar assures Parliament that the Indian government is actively engaging with the US to protect the rights of Indian nationals facing deportation. He emphasizes the importance of legal mobility and the need for humane treatment during deportation processes.

His statement came a day after a US military flight brought back 104 Indians accused of entering the US illegally. One of the deportees told the BBC they had been handcuffed throughout the 40-hour flight,

Congress on Thursday submitted an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha, calling for a discussion on the deportation of over 100 Indian nationals by US.
