A NEXT Weather Alert is in effect on Sunday night as multiple counties in the Philadelphia region are under a flash flood warning due to heavy rain.

On Sunday at 10:01 p.m. an updated flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until Monday at midnight for Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.

A flash flood warning has been issued for three New Jersey counties on Sunday evening as severe thunderstorms hit parts of the state. The flash flood warning has been issued for Essex, Hudson, and Union counties until 9:15 p.m.

Officials said at least 80 people were still missing in the region’s Chositi village after a sudden, intense downpour known as a cloudburst.

A prolonged threat of flash flooding, gusty winds and hail pose a risk to those in the Midwest, as strong storms could continue to hit the area this weekend. On Friday night into early Saturday morning, storms swept across parts of the Upper Midwest, bringing wind gusts up to 80 mph and reports of downed trees and power lines.

Strong storms rolled through Chicagoland on Saturday night into early Sunday morning, dropping heavy rain that triggered flash flooding in west suburban Cicero and whipping up strong winds that tore the roof off an apartment building in northwest suburban Mount Prospect.
