In the closing laps of the Canadian Grand Prix, McLaren teammates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris were battling for fourth place, with hopes of a fight further up the grid on the table for the McLaren driver who emerged victorious.

After briefly overtaking him with a divebomb at Turn 10, Piastri regained the position on the run down to the final chicane after maximising the slipstream and DRS from Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli ahead.

George Russell said he hopes Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will continue to throw away points to propel him into this season’s world championship fight.Russell won from pole position at the Canadian Grand Prix to claim his first triumph of the year and just the fourth of his career.
