TORONTO - American Ben Shelton is the winner of the men’s singles title at the National Bank Open. He beat Russia’s Karen Khachanov 6-7 (5), 6-4, 7-6 (3) in the championship match at Sobeys Stadium. The 22-year-old will rise to a career-high No. 6 when the updated world rankings are released Monday.
The 22-year-old is the youngest American to win a Masters 1000 title since a 21-year-old Andy Roddick won Miami in 2004.
