The early California events on the PGA Tour’s West Coast Swing are having a tough go of it with the withdrawal or absence of some of the game’s top players. The American Express, played last week in La Quinta,

World No. 4 Collin Morikawa was one of three golfers to withdraw from the upcoming Farmers Insurance Open on Sunday. Morikawa joined Nicolai Højgaard of Denmark and Tyler McCumber in bowing out of the 156-golfer field at famed Torrey Pines in San Diego.

The PGA Tour announced three golfers in all were withdrawing from the event at Torrey Pines: Nicolai Hojgaard is out and Hayden Springer is in, and Tyler McCumber is out, giving a spot to S.H. Kim. In Morikawa's lone start in 2025 at The Sentry, he finished solo second.

Collin Morikawa let loose following Sunday's final round of The Sentry, and it appears he will be paying the price for doing so.

Next week, the PGA Tour stays in California but heads to San Diego for the 2025 Farmers Insurance at Torrey Pines.

Morikawa was in a familiar situation at the season-opening Sentry this past weekend. He entered the final round one stroke behind leader Hideki Matsuyama at Kapalua and, once again, failed to convert the opportunity into a win. Morikawa missed three of the first four greens in his final round, more than he missed in the first three combined rounds.
