For defenseman Seth Jones to be traded, the Chicago Blackhawks will need many stars to line up. But, a Jones deal isn't out of the question.
One player that felt impossible to move at the start of the season is Seth Jones. He has a hefty ($9.5M) cap hit, which will be on the books until 2029. For the production that he brings, it is hard to justify this contract as anything other than albatross.
In 11 games since returning from an injury, Jones' play has looked terrible whether by analytics or by the eye test.

Jones recorded an even-strength goal and two power-play assists in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Golden Knights. Jones had his most productive game of the season Saturday and tied his season-high mark in points in a single game.
Jones, 30, is in the third year of an eight-year, $76 million contract he signed in 2021. The deal includes a full no-move clause, meaning the defenseman would need to approve any potential trade.

Since returning from injury in late December, Jones hasn't been at his best. And despite a few games of improved play, the slump has dragged on for too long.
It's the latter that gained serious traction as NHL insider Darren Dreger reports that Chicago is entertaining offers for former fourth overall pick Seth Jones. It's no surprise that teams are kicking the tires on Jones' availability as the former fourth overall pick would be an incredible two-way defenseman to bring in.
