Americans grew more worried about the economic outlook in February even as their expectations of the future path of inflation were little changed, a report on Monday from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York said.

US consumers expect slightly higher inflation in the near term and are growing more pessimistic about their finances, according to a monthly survey from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Surveys showing a rise in consumer inflation expectations mean the central bank needs to keep its focus on ensuring price pressures are contained.
