An atmospheric river storm arrived in the Bay Area overnight Tuesday and has caused flooding, downed trees and other problems throughout the past two days. The region is now bracing for another round of rain set to arrive on Thursday. Here are the latest updates: Potential landslide risk triggers evacuation warning in parts of Sonoma County The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office issued an evacuation warning due to potential landslide risk in several parts of the county, including Deer Trail Road in unincorporated Sonoma County and Canyonside Drive in Santa Rosa. View the Nixle alert below. Sonoma County schools closed Wednesday due to weather Sonoma County Office of Education posted on Tuesday that the following schools will be closed due to the weather. Guerneville School District Monte Rio Union School District Kashia Elementary West Sonoma County Union High School District Alexander Valley Union School District Landslide spills onto San Francisco street The storm caused a landslide Tuesday night on Sansome Street near Union Street in San Francisco’s Telegraph Hill neighborhood. The road is still open to traffic, but authorities are asking the public to avoid the area. Warming Center opened in Sonoma County Sonoma County officials opened a warming center Tuesday night and it’s expected to be opened until Thursday. The warming center is located at the City of Sonoma Emergency Homeless Shelter, located at 151 1st Street in West, Sonoma. The center is open to anyone in the region. Sonoma County Sheriff issues evacuation order along Russian River The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday evening issued an evacuation order for low lying areas along the Russian River, the office announced just before 6 p.m. “Everyone along the Russian River from unincorporated Healdsburg to Jenner located at 36 feet or below is under evacuation order,” they said. The current forecast predicts that the river will crest at 35.2 feet at Guerneville on Wednesday at 7 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office said in an alert. A temporary evacuation point has been set up at the Santa Rosa Veteran’s Hall, west parking lot, at 1351 Maple Avenue in Santa Rosa. Areas in the order include: 32 Feet – Lower Mill Street in Guerneville and Old Bohemian Highway in Monte Rio. 32.5 Feet – In Guerneville the intersection of Highway 116 and Neeley Road is closed. Mays Canyon Road by the old rodeo grounds is closed. 33 Feet – In Guerneville the intersection of Highway 116 and Drake Road is closed. In Monte Rio Willow and Alder Streets flood. In Forestville Mirabel Trailer Park begins to flood. 34 Feet – In Guerneville flooding begins at Johnsons Resort, Parkers Resort, Creekside Resort and Riverside Park. In Northwood, lower Redwood Drive begins to flood. 35 Feet – Numerous businesses and residences in the lowest sections of towns along the Russian River are expected to flood. In Guerneville Brookside Resort begins to flood. More extensive flooding occurs at Parkers Resort. In Northwood lower Redwood Drive floods. 36 feet – In Forestville, Mirabel Park Resort and Mirabel Trailer Park flood. In Guerneville, Fern Road at Highway 116 floods. Anyone unsure whether they are under an evacuation order can go to this map. The Sheriff’s Office advises people to take essential items such as medicines with them. Anyone who lives above the 36-foot level may have reduced or eliminated access due to flood waters. —Bay City News Rain, wind batter the Peninsula On the Peninsula, the combination of heavy rain and gusty wind triggered a host of hassles and concerns. Highway 9 closed in Saratoga due to rain Caltrans posted on social media Tuesday that Highway 9 Big Basin Way was closed between Sanborn and Redwood Gulch roads in Saratoga due to rain and for mud and debris removal. They added that crews and contractors will monitor slide conditions. The highway is expected to reopen on Wednesday at 6 a.m. Golden Gate Bridge sidewalks closed due to rain, heavy winds Golden Gate Bridge officials said on Tuesday afternoon that the bridge’s sidewalks were closed due to high winds and rain. Flooding on Highway 101 in Windsor area Northbound Highway 101 at Arata Lane was temporarily closed Tuesday afternoon due to major flooding, the CHP reported. Home slides into Russian River A mudslide in the Forestville area of Sonoma County caused an unoccupied home to slide into the Russian River, officials said. Jodi Hernandez has more in the video report below. Tree falls on person in San Francisco A tree fell on a person in the area of Goettingen and Ward streets in San Francisco, the fire department said. The adult was listed in stable condition and taken to a local hospital for observation. bay area storm Feb 4 Mudslide causes Sonoma County home to slide into Russian River bay area weather Feb 4 Use interactive radar to track the Bay Area storm Highway 1 in Marin County flooded Highway 1 in Marin County is closed due to flooding between Bear Valley Road and Point Reyes Station, according to the California Highway Patrol. Other Marin County road closures Flooding and debris have shut down multiple roads in Marin County, according to Caltrans. Other road closures in Marin County include: Shoreline Highway from Keyes Creek to Tomales; Levee Road from Shoreline Highway to Bear Valley Road; Platform Bridge-Sir Francis Drake Boulevard to Point Reyes Petaluma Road; and Shoreline Highway from Point Reyes to Olema Road. Flood warning issued for Sonoma County The National Weather Service on Tuesday issued a flood warning for Sonoma County due to excessive rainfall across the region. Sonoma County school district closes The Guerneville School District closed down Tuesday due to severe weather, officials said. Tree falls at Santa Rosa school A large oak tree fell Monday at Steele Lane Elementary School in Santa Rosa, damaging the building. The school was open Tuesday.
