Department of Homeland Security agents were shot at during an immigration enforcement operation in Chicago Saturday, the agency said — as federal agents were also accused of using pepper spray and flash-bang grenades against protesters across the Chicago area.
Protesters have clashed with authorities outside a federal immigration facility near Chicago. Activists claim the facility acts as a de facto detention center with inhumane conditions.
The Cook County Sheriff's Office said the arrests were made by midday, and that it was working on verifying identities and potential charges.
