Hurricane Melissa, now a powerful Category 5 storm, is bearing down on Jamaica and is forecast to be the worst storm in the island's history.

Hurricane Melissa is currently moving over the Caribbean Sea, with Jamaica bracing for what could be a historic Category 5 storm.

"This is a frightening situation for Jamaica," the country's Minister of Water, Environment and Climate Change tells the BBC World Service's Newsday programme.
