Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is getting closer to a return. Sidelined for Monday night’s loss to Kansas City with a hamstring injury, Daniels is expected to return to practice on Wednesday. He was not on the field for all three sessions last week.

Veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota is Daniels' backup, and he will start for the Commanders on Monday night. Mariota is in his second season with Washington.

The losses and the injuries just keep mounting for the Washington Commanders. They are on a three-game losing streak as their season appears to be slipping away.

In two frustrating months, the Commanders’ quarterback has gone from a star on the rise to a weekly question mark because of multiple injuries.

Daniels will test his injured hamstring in workouts on Sunday, and the Commanders will return in Week 9, Jay Glazer reported on Fox NFL Sunday.
