A man pretending to represent a professional basketball player allegedly swallowed hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of stolen Tiffany jewelry, according to court documents.

Jaythan GIlder posed as an NBA agent in order to gain access to Tiffany & Co merchandise, which he allegedly swallowed while in custody.

Florida police have to wait for the “foreign objects” to pass through Jaythan Gilder’s digestive system before confirming they are the stolen earrings, officials said.

Police in Orlando, Florida, have arrested a man who allegedly attempted to steal $770,000 worth of diamonds by swallowing them. Jaythan Gilder, 32, was arrested Feb. 28 in connection with a robbery two days earlier at a Tiffany & Co.

Jaythan Gilder allegedly swallowed two pairs of Tiffany & Co. diamond earrings worth $769,500 after stealing the jewelry from a store in Orlando, Florida, on Feb. 26, according to the Orlando Police Department.

He said he was a representative of an Orlando Magic basketball player before being taken to a VIP room and shown jewelry.

Jaythan Lawrence Gilder stole Tiffany & Co earrings worth $770K ( ₹6.7 crore) in Orlando. During his arrest on a Florida Panhandle highway, he swallowed the stolen jewellery. Authorities later conducted a body scan and are now waiting for the earrings to pass naturally as part of the investigation.
