In the midst of a privately funded $15 million, 10-month renovation to have the 18-hole, par-72 public golf course opened by Nov. 1, Friday marked 100 days until the week of the 2019 Houston Open.

Memorial Park Golf Course, which last hosted the Houston Open nearly 60 years ago and is now set to host the tournament again, is a municipal facility — city-owned and accessible to all.

Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, site of this week’s Cadence Bank Houston Open on the PGA Tour, originally was designed by John Bredemus and opened in 1936 on the site of a former nine-holer.

Memorial Park Golf Course began a 10-month closure back in January for its overall renovations. Tickets for the 2019 Houston Open are on sale through its new website here.

The vote was unanimous. Memorial Park Golf Course will undergo $13.5 million in renovations in order to be ready to host the PGA golf tournament in 2020.
