Democratic Washington, D. C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has left the district for Martha’s Vineyard as President Donald Trump deploys the National Guard to restore law and order in the nation’s capital, Scripps News reported.

Muriel Bowser, mayor of Washington, D.C., says she has reached out to Attorney General Pam Bondi and hopes to hold a meeting soon.

Starting August 11, law enforcement on the federal level have been seen parading the streets of DC in what the Trump administration has described as "a crime-fighting effort."
