The Department of Transportation has deemed roads in southwest and southcentral Oklahoma, including Interstate 35, "severely slick and hazardous." Crews are treating roads in northwestern, eastern and southeastern Oklahoma.

Ahead of a winter storm expected to drop several inches of snow around the Memphis area, many school districts called off class.

Pontotoc City and County School Districts have announced that all campuses will be closed tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 10, due to expected adverse winter weather conditions.

As the risk of winter weather draws near, several schools have announced closures for Thursday and Friday. This list, compiled based on school districts' press releases and social media posts and in alphabetical order by the districts' names,

As the snow begins to move into the area, it is expected that schools will begin to cancel classes as travel is not advised and roads will begin to become dangerous as the day goes on. It it possible some schools will try to get a half day in and release students early rather than cancelling classes altogether.

Snowfall continues across Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley, prompting city offices and more to close their doors on Friday, Jan. 10.

A second winter storm will arrive in Central Virginia Friday, while roads still remain icy and residents are still dealing with a water crisis. Some local school districts are choosing to close or delay their openings in the face of these challenges.
