A winter storm system is expected to intensify Saturday morning, bringing steady snow showers and creating potentially hazardous travel conditions across Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin and Michigan.
The big rivalry game weekend has arrived. The Michigan Wolverines are playing those other guys from down south, known as the Ohio State Buckeyes. Kickoff at the Big House is scheduled for noon, just before snow is expected to start at 1 p.m. in Ann Arbor, according to the National Weather Service in White Lake.
Icicles formed at a slant on a Chicago pier thanks to the wind, and Lake Michigan's waters were choppy with whitecaps. Motorists drove cautiously along snowy and slushy roads. Snow-covered roads and slow travel were reported across Iowa and northern Illinois and Indiana.
Consumers Energy says it’s pre-staging nearly 200 crews across Michigan in preparation for a second round of winter weather expected to impact the state Saturday and Sunday, following storms that knocked out power to more than 60,000 customers earlier in the week.

A winter weather advisory was released by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 10:23 a.m. EST in effect until 7 p.m. EST for Mason, Lake, Osceola, Oceana, Newaygo and Mecosta counties.
