Jul 10, 2021 · Gundam 0080 -- Just a beautiful, self-contained story. The animation is excellent, and the fight scenes are weighty. I think it's the best, most complete encapsulation of the ideas of Gundam. Also, the Alex is the best Gundam design. Victory Gundam -- It stuck with me in a way none of the other full length UC series did.

It does get a little bit trickier, because there are alternate universe timelines unrelated to the original, like Iron Blooded Orphans or Gundam Seed.

Sep 8, 2020 · The original Gundam is pretty dated, it has inconsistency in its animation, and overall newbies get intimidated by Gundam's long-spanning history. A remake would be nice, we already have The Origin OVA so why not continue the story from there? They also released an RX79-8-2 HG the origin model kit.

May 6, 2022 · For my next obvious hot take: G Gundam is the most authentic successor to the themes of 0079 and one of the few AUs to genuinely grasp the central idea of the franchise. All the wuxia nonsense is just there to sell toys--same way the RX78 was designed to sport parade colors and transformation gimmicks.

Jun 19, 2021 · Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans as the story has much of what makes Gundam good but told with more modern anime tropes and character archetypes. It has likeable characters, some interesting politics, and is generally well written. Gundam 0079 movies as this is the original Gundam series, but trimming most of the fat and with slightly nicer animation.
